Receiving Prayer Ministry
At the end of almost every service at St. Matthew’s there is an opportunity for you to receive prayer for any need; physical, emotional or spiritual.
We do this in obedience to Jesus’ command to his followers and as an expression of our love. Our aim is to follow the example of Jesus who laid hands on people to heal them and to bless them.
At the end of the service the minister will often share “words of knowledge” that we believe God has given to encourage people to respond to Him. They may indicate a need or situation.
We invite anyone to come and receive prayer ministry whether in response to these words or not.
What Do You Have To Do?
At the morning service you will normally be invited at the end of the service to go to the side chapel (on the opposite side to the organ console) where you will find members of our Prayer Ministry Team. In the evening there may be an invitation to come to the front of the church where members of the Prayer Ministry Team will come to you and pray for you there.
Members of the Prayer Ministry Team wear blue name badges. They will introduce themselves, ask you your name and what you want prayer for. Your prayer request does not have to be for anything major, we are happy to pray with you concerning any need, large or small. You can receive prayer as many times as you wish whether it is for the same thing or something different.
You do not necessarily have to pray or do anything yourself, only be open to God to allow Him to work in your life. If you need to pray or do anything yourself, the Prayer Ministry Team members will ask you to. If you do not wish to pray yourself you do not have to.
During the prayer time there will be times of quiet while we wait on God. Please try and rest in God’s presence during these times.
Anything you share will be kept in strict confidence.
If you would rather be prayed for somewhere more private, please say so. There is a small Prayer Room we use for this purpose. Our teams often have both male and female members. If you would prefer to be prayed for by people of the same sex as yourself please say so.
The Prayer Ministry Team members will always treat you with respect and if at any point you wish the prayer ministry to stop, simply say so and you are free to0 walk away.
If after receiving prayer ministry you feel God has touched you in anyway please let the team members know. If you want further prayer ministry please feel free to come forward on another occasion. |
