Small Groups

The purpose of Small Groups is to enable people to build relationships within an environment small enough for them to know and be known. They aim to facilitate growth in Christ-likeness, loving one another, and contributing to the work of the church, that together we may glorify God as we fulfil our church vision.

Small Groups provide the best environment for the life-change Jesus Christ intends for every believer. A Small Group is the church in its smallest unit. Small Groups are not just another activity within the church but a primary activity through which we can be the church. A Small Group loving one another with God's love, experiences the life Christ promised at the deepest level possible. This love radically transforms them and demonstrates his power.

We are aiming for a variety of small groups to meet the needs of everyone, as well as the diverse needs of the body as a whole. So groups will develop to meet the needs of different people:

  • enquirer/seeker small groups
  • discipleship small groups
  • task oriented small groups (e.g. the Worship teams)
  • fellowship/community small groups etc

Each group has a leader and an apprentice. These are key people in the church family. The ultimate goal of a leader is life-change: to help group members grow in Christ-like character through learning, loving one another, and contributing of themselves and their resources.

Key values of Small Groups are self-generated leadership, pastoral care, birthing new groups and accountability.
