Forgive us our sins 1 November 2007
‘Forgive us our sins as we forgive those who sin against us.’
God is so amazing! His grace knows no bounds. As we confess our sins we are washed clean, even though we are so undeserving.
“For as high as the heavens are above the earth, so great is his love for those who fear him; as far as the east is from the west, so far has he removed our transgressions from us.” Psalm 103:11-12
We are not quite as forgiving as God. We are called to forgive as Jesus forgives; we are just not so natural at doing it. When we hold things against others a shadow is cast over our lives; over our relationship with God himself.
“Therefore, if you are offering your gift at the altar and there remember that your brother has something against you, leave your gift there in front of the altar. First go and be reconciled to your brother; then come and offer your gift.” Matthew 5:23-24
Are there relationships in your life that need to be restored? Are there family members, friends or work colleagues who you need to forgive or acknowledge that you have hurt in some way? Ask God to prompt your heart and ask for guidance as to how to deal with each situation. Take the initiative; don’t wait for the other person to make the first move. Invite God along with you as you take the steps needed to restore those relationships.
Father, we thank you that you are so forgiving and so full of grace. Help us to be the same.
Amen |
