Your will be done 30 October 2007
‘Your kingdom come, your will be done on earth as in heaven.’
We remember Jesus’ prayer in Gethsemane.
“He withdrew about a stone’s throw beyond them, knelt down and prayed, “Father, if you are willing, take this cup from me; yet not my will, but yours be done.”” Luke 22:41-42
Despite knowing what awaited him Jesus still did His Father’s will. One of our big problems is that we seem to follow our own will much too often. We profess to follow God, but our own wants and desires somehow obscure our view of what God wants of us. We are the workers that will enable the Kingdom of God to be seen on earth. The more we follow our will rather than that of God then the less the kingdom of God will be seen.
Reflect now on areas of life where your will may take precedence over the will of God; then prayerfully ask the Lord to help you change.
Lord, let your will be done in each of our lives; use us to bring your kingdom into the lives of those around us more and more.
Amen |
