Be careful what you wish for…Sex – 16 October 2007
In Britain today, sex is used to sell virtually everything and the “sexualisation” of our culture is on the increase. A recent survey in Manchester found that 63% of girls aged 15-19 would rather be a glamour model than a teacher. Recently, police raided 48 brothels in the relatively small town of Peterborough. Sex before marriage - and outside of marriage – is seen as normal and acceptable to all but the most “prudish”. Where do Christians stand on this issue? Are we visibly different from the world?
The separation of sex from love and the instant gratification of the “I want it, I’ll have it” immoral code enables many people to get whatever they want sexually. But are they happy with it?
Singer Robbie Williams is famous for wearing his heart on his sleeve and going after whatever he wishes (sex, drugs, alcohol…) in a big way. Here are a couple of his quotations: · “I have to be careful what I ask for in life, 'cause I always seem to get it! The good thing is, I've got a purpose now, whereas before my purpose was to go out and party.” · “Sexually, you can do what you want; act out however you want to. It's allowed, I'm a pop star. But it's soulless.”
The Bible is very clear about sexual morality and immorality.
But among you there must not be even a hint of sexual immorality, or of any kind of impurity, or of greed, because these are improper for God's holy people. Ephesians 5:3 [NIV]
Is there a hint of sexual immorality about you today? Bring it before God today and let him deal with it as only He can.
Lord, help us to be pure. When tempted, keep us strong. When we are weak, restore us to your side and forgive us when we sin. Amen |

I'm a friend of Della Hudson's in France and she sent me this- not the sex one , but the trearures in heaven one! But I'm clicking on all of them, because it's good to meditate on the things of the Lord and this is the sort of lenght of meditation that I can mull over trying to hold down a job, busy church life and 3 children!
Thanks
