Tues 25 Sept 07 - Build Our Faith
Yesterday we looked at the importance of remembering what God has done, in fact last night someone was sharing how encouraged they were as they saw people coming for Communion just how many people had become Christians in recent years - and they could see how God had changed these peoples lives.
Today, as we prepare for mission I want us to think about celebrating what God is doing. I love the bit in Luke's Gospel when the 72 return to Jesus full of joy, and Jesus bursts out into spontaneous praise:
At that time Jesus, full of joy through the Holy Spirit, said, "I praise you, Father, Lord of heaven and earth, because you have hidden these things from the wise and learned, and revealed them to little children. Yes, Father, for this was your good pleasure." Luke 10:24
In the preparations for Revive there have been moments when part of the plan has come together, prayers have been answered that I've simply said a prayer of thanks and praise - it was just the natural way to respond...
One thing I said "Thank you" for was the following story:
A couple of our "Big Conversation" surveyers returned having completed their street excited at what had happened. Thay had an opportunity to pray with someone they got talking to, and also had a long conversation with someone who expressed a desire to come "Back to Church..." (Do pray that prodigal comes home.) Others have reported that people are very positive about coming to the "Big Event" some to possibly receive prayer.
Give thanks for all that God is doing, and take a moment to thank him for something specific in your own life.
