Mon 24 Sept 07 - Build our Faith!
"Look to the Lord and his strength; seek his face always. Remember the wonders he has done, his miracles, and the judgements he has pronounced..." 1 Chronicles 16:11-2
This week the church in Rugby is reaching out into the community under the banner of Revive - we are joining with the Churches in New Bilton to reach those we serve in that area.
Our verses taken from a Psalm of David recorded in Chronicles is, I think a good watchword for us this week. Firstly we must keep looking to God, he alone can make our service of him and our community fruitful.
Secondly is the lesson, the discipline even, of reminding ourselves of his goodness; this will help build our faith for what is to come. The Devotionals this week will seek to build our faith for all that's happening during Revive across Rugby. We will look at what God has done, is doing, and promises of what he will do to encourage us.
A story of God's Goodness then for today (there's one for each day this week):
- A few weeks ago CLC held a baptism service, the woman who was baptised came back to God after her and her husband were blown away by what the churches did last Easter (during 40 days of community), and a subsequent encounter with Carol Singers. Her husband is going to do the forthcoming Alpha Course. God is good.
Take a pause to bring before God a time when he worked powerfully in or through you. Dwell on that memory and give thanks for it. Then ask God to build your faith for more of his work in your life (after all Jesus is the same, yesterday, today and forever...), and do pray for all that's happening with Revive.
Have a good day
