Your Spiritual Compass – Mon 10 Sept 07

“The steps of a good man are ordered by the Lord: and he delighteth in his way” (Psalm 37:23).

Pastor Jentezen Franklin recently preached a message from his new book entitled Right People, Right Place, Right Plan. The message was so good I just couldn’t help but share it with others. This week I will be focusing on what he said concerning discerning God’s voice and discovering his plan for your life.
Firstly, Pastor Jentezen related how the compass was discovered. He said that in China, people would take a melted piece of iron, drop it on a leaf in water, and the leaf would invariably turn, always pointing in the same direction.
He explained that this invention took place years before the Bible was written. Whilst no one could explain the phenomenon or the earth’s magnetic field, the people knew there was something internal in the earth that was pulling on the iron to indicate north. Years later, what eventually became the compass was used more and more by sailors and travellers who could use that technology to determine the way to go.
He said, “Inside every believer there is a compass—an internal force—placed by God, waiting to be discovered and used for His glory. When you learn to utilize and trust this valuable resource, you will find you can navigate the stormy seas of life.”
Similarly, pastor Jentezen said, the Holy Spirit wants to guide you, lead you, and speak to you. And when you learn to discern His voice and listen to Him, He will lead you to the right people, right places, and right plan.
Today pray to God your Father and ask him to be your spiritual compass in everything you do for he has already promised “The steps of a good man are ordered by the Lord: and he delighteth in his way” (Psalm 37:23).
