The Rocks will cry out – Wed 11 July
When the Israelites were moaning in the desert for water, God gave it to them – quite miraculously too - water from a rock. If you don’t know the story, that is pretty much it!
In 1 Corinthians 10:4 Paul likens this rock to Jesus, while I had to learn a lot about this idea of relating an Old Testament idea to a modern one I am not going to go into that – the point is that Jesus was in the Old Testament and was glorified through the medium of rocks!
Maybe rocks won’t be what it happens through today – but Jesus will be glorified, the church will grow and Gods name will be exalted – even if we don’t do it! Even if every Christian on earth stays in church all day only singing My Jesus My Saviour, the message of God will spread.
It seems so simple to live with this attitude in a heavenly way – if you don’t tell people about Jesus someone or something else will, yet when you get to heaven it will be strange that Jesus isn’t excited that you sang My Jesus My Saviour your whole life. He chooses to work through us.
If it is going to happen – surely you want to be part of it happening. If would be very depressing, if there can be depression in heaven, to stand before the Almighty and realise that stones had lead more people to salvation that you had. |
