Who Wants to be a Millionaire – 1st May 2007.

Round by round you take your pick from a selection of answers to increasingly hard questions. Round by round you aim to double your money, or fall back to a lesser sum. Along the way you will take some chances, ask for help, phone a friend, place your trust in the audience, run the risk of losing it all……

What is your dream? What do you take risks with in order to gain materially? How willing are you to accept advice and help as you head towards your goal, or struggle through?

Our material society focuses on storing up our wealth; a snazzy car, chic clothes, large houses are all seen as signs of our riches, an outward show of our wealth. But what does God say to us….

“Do not store up treasures on earth! Moths and rust can destroy them, and thieves break in and steal them. Instead, store up your treasures in Heaven, where they cannot be stolen or destroyed. Your heart will always be where your treasure is.” Matthew 6:19-21

Though we often long for more, for bigger, for better, we need to remember that we already have all we need. Our gracious, merciful Father provides for our every need. In fact He goes beyond what we need, often providing what we haven’t even realised we need, or that we deserved. His grace and mercy are never ending.

Often we fail to see and to acknowledge all that He gives. And yet He still goes on giving. What an amazing God!

Our true riches come not from what we have to show here on earth, but on our inheritance in the kingdom of God. In order to be true millionaires we need to do as Jesus said – to build our treasures in our heavenly inheritance, and by trusting in God’s mercy and grace.
