Simão

SimaoI was born on 4 April 1983, at Inhambane province, in Mozambique.  My father and mother divorced in 1985. My father went into military service in northern Mozambique and my mother left for Maputo where she is still living. In 1986 when I was 3 years old I was living with my auntie. I grew up in Beira without parents. My auntie was a very mean to me, so much so that I didn't enjoy my life at all. I have never seen my mother since she went to Maputo but I usually visits my father.

The idea came to me that I would be better off living on the Street in Beira. When I was 7 I went to stay at the orphanage in Dondo, just outside of Beira. I left Dondo and went to Beira to continue living on the street. When I was 11 some missionaries called Debbie and Gail, who were the founders of Casa Re-om, took me in. I began my education at Escola Re'om, where I completed grade 1 up to grade 5.

Thereafter, I went to Gorongosa (180kms from Beira) to continue with my studies Casa Re-om paid for this school. I did grades 6 to 8, and then returned back to Beira.

In the year 2000, at the age of 17, I had a call to do Missionary work. I went to Zimbabwe to Discipleship Training School. After this in 2002 I started working with Casa Re-om as a volunteer member of staff to help with the boys. In September 2002 I left Mozambique for Malawi for a Foundational Leadership School and in 2003 I went to Quelimane to attend the School of Bible Studies. In 2006 I got married to girl called Francisca and I thank God for this.

I am now based at Casa Re'om and am in-charge of the boys at Inhamizua. Francisca and I live with the boys to look after them.

My future plans are:
1. I don't know if it will be possible to leave the boys.......
2. To finish school and do Journalism
3. Build my own house and live happily with my family.

God bless.
