I think it’s quite significant that the three largest contributors to the Bible were murderers. God’s grace is so powerful and wonderful that nobody is too hardened for God’s love to change their life, and for God to use them.
Thinking about the people I know, there are some guys that I have a lot of hope for and I’m praying for them to get ‘Life’ with Jesus, and one or two that I’ve pretty much given up hoping for. It would seem that their lifestyle, views and character are nowhere near like Christ’s.
Acts 9:1-19 is the story of a man deeply entrenched in killing and hating people and how his life is turned around by God in a flash. (It’s a cracking story – if you’ve got two minutes, read it now!) This passage encouraged me to think and act differently towards people I’ve given up on.
The Paul we hear from in the New Testament letters sounds like a completely different man, he’s even got a different name, yet he’s the same man - deeply aware of the love he’s been shown and the grace he’s been given. It’s this changing grace that brings the humility to really see Jesus and share Him with others.
Out of your friends/colleagues/people you know, who would seem most unlikely to ever be ‘saved’? Have hope for them, pray for them, and be prepared for them to teach you a lot about Jesus |
