Let them bind themselves together to pray … - 11 Jan 2007
RA Torrey wrote the following prescription for revival:
First: Let a group of Christians get thoroughly right with God. If this isn’t done, the rest will come to nothing. (see yesterday’s devotional)
Second: Let them bind themselves together to pray for revival until God opens the windows of heaven and comes down.
Third: (I’ll cover tomorrow…)
Have you noticed an emphasis on prayer lately?
I’m a man, and I like to fix things. I don’t generally bother with prayers for things that I know I can fix myself. But I wonder, does God feel the same way? You know, I feel that he wants us to long for and pray for things that are so big that we know there is no way of achieving them without him.
Think about the vision of what the church could be that we touched on on Monday. That’s a big goal – that’s something worth longing for. And that’s something that we need God for.
So, let’s grasp a God sized vision of His plans, and bind ourselves together to pray for it.
