Getting ourselves thoroughly right with God - 10 Jan 2007

RA Torrey wrote the following prescription for revival in any church, community or city, based on his analysis of past revivals:

First:  Let a group of Christians get thoroughly right with God.  If this isn’t done, the rest will come to nothing.

Second: (I’ll cover tomorrow…)

 Third: (on Friday…)

What does it mean to be ‘thoroughly right with God’?

Jesus replied, "If anyone loves me, he will obey my teaching. My Father will love him, and we will come to him and make our home with him.” John 14:23

Consider, can you be thoroughly right with someone if

·         You seldom talk with him?

·         You are not completely honest with him?

·         You don’t acknowledge him?

·         You don’t thank him if he gives you a gift?

·         You ignore what he tells you to do?

·         You do things that you know he hates to see you do?

One thing is certain – I’m not there yet!  But I know I want to be.  And I need a Band of Brothers to help me get there.

How about you?

God bless
