There must be more than this – 08 Jan 2007
Do you ever come away from a Sunday service thinking “There must be more to Christian life than this!”? Do you ever look around you and think “look at all this potential, all these people with skills and talents that are unused – what a difference we could make”? Do you ever get a glimpse of what the bride of Christ could be in this lost and hurting world?
One thing is certain – the church is not there yet. There is so much despair in the world that we could be healing, so many people living tired and hopeless lives that we could be bringing hope to. Take a moment to imagine the difference that we could make to so many lives if we freed up the resources that God has given us and used them ALL for His work. Take a moment to imagine the bride of Christ being who we were meant to be. Wouldn’t that be awesome!
We aren’t there yet, but we’ve started. Look at the difference we are making through Casa Reom – working together we are seeing lives changed, both there and here. Ask anyone who’s been and you will hear the rewards that they have received for their step of faith.
Now consider Hope4. At the moment a tender shoot that needs care and attention, don’t we long to see the needs of the homeless being addressed by followers of Christ? Let’s bring our resources to bear on this project too.
And what will be next? The drug problem? Antisocial behaviour? Workaholicism?
Do we long for revival? Do we long enough for revival that we are ready for it to start with us? If yes, then read on through this week.
And get hold of a copy of “For What It’s Worth” by Simon Guillebaud.
