Abba, Daddy - 22 November 2006
I met two people on sabbatical who had such a lovely relationship with God. They didn't speak of THE Father, one spoke of "papa" the other simply "Father" - so, "Isn't Papa great"; "Father is so wonderful", "Why does Father do that?".

Here's a picture of one of them, Pierre, with his children.
Pierre and Ben addressed or spoke of God the Father in the way you might speak of your human father to your brother or sister. It was so natural for them and demonstrated an intimacy of relationship that they enjoy with him - just as we are encouraged to have and to call God, Abba, daddy.
As Christian brothers and sisters that is surely how we should speak of Dad to each other and it expresses something of our relationship with HIm.
Because you are sons, God sent the Spirit of his Son into our hearts, the Spirit who calls out, "Abba, Father." Gal 4:6 (NIV)
Does it feel about awkward to speak of God that way? It maybe doesn't come naturally, but it is the work of the Spirit in us, Paul says, to speak in this way.
Hey Dad, thanks for this day, please be with me in all I have to do, and by the way Dad, I do love you.
