I will lift up mine eyes unto the hills, from whence cometh my help. My help cometh from the Lord, which made heavens and earth (Psalms 121:1-2 -King James Version)
These words were spoken by the psalmist David. Maybe he was far away from the city running away from Absalom his son who was trying to take the kingdom. Maybe he was trying to escape from Saul who was after his life. But what ever the circumstances were, there was trouble all around him. However David knew how to respond – he looked up to the Lord. It happened again when he and his men returned to Ziklag to find their camp burnt with fire and the women and children taken captives (1 Sam 30). It is said that David was greatly distressed because the people were speaking of stoning him, but he strengthened himself in the Lord.
You may be facing a mountain and you may be feeling frustrated by the fact that you have been confessing Isaiah 53 “He was wounded for my transgressions and bruised for my iniquities and guilt. And by the stripes upon his back, I am healed!” but with no healing manifestation. You may be in debt and have been confessing “I alone know the plans to make you happy, plans to prosper you and not to harm you”, but no prosperity coming. The devil may be sifting your family like wheat and all you can see is the stony residue in the sieve with all the good you have done, gone.
Here’s a word for you. Encourage yourself in the Lord for the things that can be seen with the physical eye are subject to change. But the word of the Lord cannot change. But why I am encouraging you as if I don’t have my own problems? Well, this is because the word teaches us to encourage one another and also faith comes by hearing and hearing the word of the Lord (Rom 10)
So, be blessed – God is not a liar. He will honour His word |
