Praying for strength and power – 4th July 2006
Today, we are going to continue to eavesdrop on the prayers of Paul in the book of Ephesians. As the book reaches what I feel is the high point in chapter three, Paul prays that the glorious riches of God may overflow into the lives of the believers in this Gentile church.
He speaks with complete confidence in what God can do.
For this reason I kneel before the Father, from whom his whole family in heaven and on earth derives its name. I pray that out of his glorious riches he may strengthen you with power through his Spirit in your inner being, so that Christ may dwell in your hearts through faith.
Eph 3:14-16
If we are Christian believers, then we too have been adopted into God’s family. We are sons and daughters and we can call God our Father.
This is a wonderful prayer to pray for each other. Maybe you could try it if you are part of a prayer triplet. Or maybe in your small group or house group.
Lord, I pray for my friend. I pray that out of your glorious riches you may strengthen them with power through your Spirit in their inner being.
May Christ dwell in their heart through faith.
And maybe this is a chance to renew your invitation to Jesus to come and dwell in your heart. I love that word “dwell”… it has a sense of being at home somewhere, being at ease, staying and not rushing away.
