Monday 26th June 2006 - The power of prayer
Many people may be wondering – does God really hear and answer prayers? If you are one of those who have been waiting for the manifestation of probably many years of “unanswered” prayer, I have good news!
The Lord has impressed upon my mind a special word for you. Tell my people to read Psalms 72. Let them figure out what I have done and what I can do for them.
For lack of space, I shall not quote the entire psalms but only verse 15:
“Long may he live! May gold from Sheba be given him….”
The Spirit of the Lord says, tell my people that one day David the father of Solomon sat down to pray Psalm 72 and this is what happened:
- Did I not make Solomon a (wise and) righteous judge of my people? vs 1 - 6
- Were the Israelites not a prosperous nation during Solomon’s reign? v 7
- Did the kings of Tarshish and distant shores not bring tribute to David’s son? v 10
- Was Solomon not given gold from Sheba? v 15
- Are believers from all nations not blessed through the works of King Solomon? v 17
To cut the long story short, the answer is YES, David’s prayer was answered.
The Spirit of the Lord says to my spirit, ask my people, when was this psalms prayed? Was it not before Solomon became king? Isn’t it amazing that tucked within the book of psalms, this answered prayer, is almost forgotten when my children read about the life of Solomon in the books of Kings, Chronicles and Proverbs?
Tell them, I haven’t forgotten! |
