Someone who learns from you – 22 July 2010
“Don’t let anyone look down on you because you are young, but set an example for the believers in speech, in life, in love, in faith and in purity. Until I come, devote yourself to the public reading of Scripture, to preaching and to teaching. Do not neglect your gift, which was given you through a prophetic message when the body of elders laid their hands on you.” 1 Timothy 4:12-14 [NIV]
Just as Timothy learned from Paul, so Paul trained up Timothy.
Yesterday we were thinking about how helpful it can be to have someone to learn from, a person who has experience of living with Jesus.
I heard about a church where people made a point of seeking to mentor those younger in the faith, and it led to all sorts of good things. We can all make a point of praying for each other, perhaps praying for people younger than us could be a part of this.
