Someone to learn from – 21 July 2010
“Whatever you have learned or received or heard from me, or seen in me -- put into practice. And the God of peace will be with you.” Philippians 4:9 [NIV]
Who do you want to be like?
We all benefit from real people to learn from, people we model ourselves on.
The Bible is full of examples of people learning from others. For example, Timothy’s relationship with Paul. Paul and Timothy did a lot together, and Timothy wanted to learn from Paul.
A few years ago I met a young man who, after becoming a Christian, sought out an older man to mentor him. The man he found was a man in his 80s who had a lifetime of living with Jesus, and a quite remarkable relationship developed which benefited both of them.
Do you have someone to learn from? If not, you might ask God to guide you in seeing who it is who has experience of living with Jesus.
