Someone to look up to – 19 July 2010
When I consider your heavens,
the work of your fingers,
the moon and the stars, which you have set in place,
what is man that you are mindful of him, the son of man that you care for him? Psalm 8:3-4 [NIV]
Wow! There are times when the world around us just takes our breath away, and we can just be amazed at it.
King David, the writer of this Psalm, was someone who spent a lot of time in the open air and he clearly found that his enjoyment of the world drew him closer to God.
As a very young child I remember well how my Mum and Dad pointed out things to look at and let me take time to drink in the wonder of the world around me.
And a part of the wonder of it all is that the same God who made it all – the stars, the planets, space itself – the same God cares for us individually as we are.
