Sealed – 19 May 2010
In Him you also trusted, after you heard the word of truth, the gospel of your salvation; in whom also, having believed, you were sealed with the Holy Spirit of promise. Ephesians 1:13 [NKJV]
At the moment of accepting Jesus as our Lord and Saviour, we are sealed with the Holy Spirit – what does this mean? The Holy Spirit is within us and He is joined to us with a bond not easily broken.
Since our bodies are a temple of the Holy Spirit, we are not to be misled into thinking that we are weak and powerless to do the will of God in the world. Satan would have us believe that we are below him in authority – yet we are sealed with the Holy Spirit. That is our true identity – believe it today, and act in accordance with this God-created identity.
Do I always behave as though I am sealed with the Holy Spirit? No! To often, I listen to the lies of Satan who tells me I have a different identity. Let’s strive today to recognize the Spirit which dwells with us and let us recognize that we are sealed with Him.
Do not let any unwholesome talk come out of your mouths, but only what is helpful for building others up according to their needs, that it may benefit those who listen. And do not grieve the Holy Spirit of God, with whom you were sealed for the day of redemption. Get rid of all bitterness, rage and anger, brawling and slander, along with every form of malice. Be kind and compassionate to one another, forgiving each other, just as in Christ God forgave you.
Ephesians 4:29-32 [NIV]
