“I'm gonna stand, I'm gonna run
Into your arms, into your arms again”
Yesterday we considered what it means to speak out the truth. It is not always easy to stand up for what you believe in, or to speak the truth into a challenging situation. Sometimes there is backlash from this, and we may end up being hurt, or hurting others. In these times when we have fallen, or just need that little word of comfort from God, we can run to Him, and he lifts us up in His arms and whispers those words to us, “Everything is going to be alright, you’re safe in my arms”.
“The eternal God is your refuge, and underneath are the everlasting arms”. Deuteronomy 33:27 [NIV]
I love the image this verse portrays and have often imagined God literally holding me up high, and protecting me with His everlasting arms, arms that never lose their power, nor waver. His arms are mighty to save. I clung to this verse as I flew through storms en-route to Mozambique, and pictured God’s strong arms beneath our plane, literally holding the plane in the sky and stopping it from falling!
In His arms, we are safe. In those loving arms of God, we find shelter, safety, and security. His arms are mighty, His arms are powerful, and His arms are gentle. In His arms, we find compassion. His arms surround us and keep us warm, His arms are beneath us holding us up all day long. His arms are always there, wide open and beckoning us in, ready for us to run into them and find our peace and security. Again, and again and again.
As History Makers, we will be in the firing line at times, and will be hurt as part of our taking a stand.
Are you prepared, as a History Maker, to acknowledge that we do not know it all, and that often, when we stand, we get things wrong. We may cause hurt, or be hurt. God beckons his bruised History Makers into His arms where you will find His compassion, His protection, His mercy.
