Families - 21 April 2010

"Honor your father and your mother, so that you may live long in the land the LORD your God is giving you.  Exodus 20:12 [NIV]

‘One of the things I love the most about you, my children, is that you create loving groups called families.  I intended it this way when I first desired you to produce children but you have exceeded all my hopes.  You are not like animals who only nurture their children for a short time until they are weaned, or other animals who completely abandon them as eggs to find their own way.

You love and nurture your children and you teach them how to live and how to love.  You show them affection and care and protect them from danger so that they grow up secure and confident.  And the more consistent love they are shown the more secure and confident they are.  In this way you have developed and improved your civilizations and you have progressed in knowledge and wisdom by passing those attributes down to the next generation. 

But it has also become apparent to you that some people do not get shown this love within their families and because of this they grow up with emotional problems.  They become fodder for evil and hate the very people that they should love.  They abandon their family groups and have to live without that love and support and they pass this attitude onto their children.  And they get pulled into evil lives that hurt themselves and others, shortening their lives as they abuse themselves and put themselves in danger.

So I want you to know how important it is for you to have loving families who can care for one another and honour one another in love.  It really is the healthiest way for you to live and I really want to bless you in that and help you to overcome your relationship difficulties.  I can do that and I can show you how to love.
