"Remember the Sabbath day by keeping it holy. Six days you shall labor and do all your work, but the seventh day is a Sabbath to the LORD your God. On it you shall not do any work, neither you, nor your son or daughter, nor your manservant or maidservant, nor your animals, nor the alien within your gates. For in six days the LORD made the heavens and the earth, the sea, and all that is in them, but he rested on the seventh day. Therefore the LORD blessed the Sabbath day and made it holy.
Exodus:20:8-11 [NIV]
Then he said to them, "The Sabbath was made for man, not man for the Sabbath.
So the Son of Man is Lord even of the Sabbath." Mark 2:27 [NIV]
‘I know how hard life is for you, you have within you my creativity and I know that you have to work hard to express this and keep your societies functioning as they should.
I love the way you work hard to help one another and benefit everyone, I love your intellects and your resourcefulness and the way which you can solve problems and bring to birth new ideas. I love your loyalty and tenacity and the way you can work together for the good of all.
But I realise that sometimes you get carried away with your work, or that there is always another problem to solve or another idea to develop. I know that you have other needs for enjoyment and relationship and time to listen to and worship me. You need time to gather together in families and groups to enjoy one another’s company and that most of all you need to rest and take a break and recharge your batteries.
I know because I made you that way – like me. And I know the joy I felt when I stopped creating and just had time to admire the work I had done. So I am giving you an amazing gift, I am giving you permission to stop and rest every seven days just as I stopped and rested after I had made your world. I hope you enjoy this day and I want to bless you greatly in it.
Love
