God’s all for us - 2 April 2010

This week we have looked a little at what might be involved in being a follower of Jesus.  Today, the day when we remember Jesus hanging on the cross, we can take time to remember why we have become his disciples.

“For God so loved the world that he gave his one and only Son, that whoever believes in him shall not perish but have eternal life. For God did not send his Son into the world to condemn the world, but to save the world through him.” John 3:16-17 [NIV]

Jesus came to save the world and everybody in it, you and me included. He didn’t ask anything of us, we had no standard to achieve or boxes to tick. He came because God loves us so much, no matter who we might be or what we might have done or what we might think of ourselves. Jesus died alone on the cross to open the way to the Father, so that relationship could be restored, to pay the price for sin once for all and so that we can have the certainty of eternal life with the risen Lord.

Today, take time to be quiet and reflect on what Jesus has done for you and reaffirm your commitment to be his disciple.

“When he had received the drink, Jesus said, “It is finished.” With that, he bowed his head and gave up his spirit.” John 19:30 [NIV]

Jesus loves us so much that he died for us; because in God’s eyes ‘we’re worth it.’
