O Love of God! - 15 February 2010

With Valentine’s day just gone and love still in the air I’d like to share the lyrics of a song about the amazing love of God: –

The love of God is greater far

Than tongue or pen could ever tell.

It reaches to the highest star

And goes down to the lowest hell.

That guilty pair, bowed down with care

He sent His Son to win.

That erring child he reconciled

And brought him to his side.

O love of God – how vast, how free!

How measureless, how strong!

It shall for evermore endure

The saints’ and angels’ song.

Were the whole sky of parchment made

And all the oceans vast stores of ink,

Were every man a scribe by trade

And every tree on the earth a quill –

To write the love of God above

Would drain the oceans completely dry,

Nor could the scroll contain the whole

Though stretched from star to star.

O love of God – how vast how free!

How measureless, how strong!

It shall for evermore endure

The saints’ and angels’ song.

Ephesians 3:17 - Paul says:

I pray that you, being rooted and established in love, may have power, together with all the saints, to grasp how wide and long and high and deep is the love of Christ, and to know this love…

Father in heaven please give me the power to begin to grasp how wide and long and high and deep is the love Jesus has for me.
