Take promises to God in prayer – 2 February 2010
Prayer is a conversation with God and this is usually based on God’s will for us in the scriptures. When you pray, what do you talk about with your Maker?
Listen to what the Lord Jesus talked about with his Father before he came down to earth:
That is why, when Christ came into the world, he said to God,
“You did not want animal sacrifices or sin offerings.
But you have given me a body to offer.
You were not pleased with burnt offerings or other offerings for sin.
Then I said, ‘Look, I have come to do your will, O God—
as is written about me in the Scriptures.’” Hebrews 10: 5–7 [NLT]
The “written scriptures” which Jesus was talking to His Father about were spoken by King David in Psalm 40: 6–8.
Here is a challenge for you today. Can you see yourself in the scriptures? Can you identify one or two which you can confidently say this was written about me?
If not, why don’t you ask the Lord to show you His perfect plan for you in the scriptures?
Here is what is written about me:
You have not chosen Me, but I have chosen you and I have appointed you [I have planted you], that you might go and bear fruit and keep on bearing, and that your fruit may be lasting [that it may remain, abide], so that whatever you ask the Father in My Name [as presenting all that I AM], He may give it to you.
