God’s Love is unbreakable - 26 November 2009
The world’s view of love, and sometimes our experience may lead us to think of love as a somewhat fragile thing, something that can be broken or distorted or discarded. God’s love is different.
“For I am convinced that neither death nor life, neither angels nor demons, neither the present nor the future, nor any powers, neither height nor depth, nor anything else in all creation, will be able to separate us from the love of God that is in Christ Jesus our Lord.” Romans 8:38-39 [NIV]
What ever we do, whatever anybody else does, whatever the circumstances, nothing, absolutely nothing can stop God loving us the way that he does. Nothing can make God love us any less than he already does (and remember that nothing that we do can make God love us any more!).
We might turn away from God, in small ways or large ways, for minutes or for years, but when the dust settles and we look back to him he is there with his arm outstretched inviting us near, back into his arms of love.
When bad stuff happens, when all seems black, when we feel lost; God is there holding out his arms of love towards us.
When we rant and rave against God for perceived injustice, for when we just don’t understand; God is there holding out his arms of love towards us.
Today, if you are feeling in need of more of God’s love (could we ever have enough?) then take time out to be quiet and still and pray for God to give you a sense of peace and belonging, and to lead you into a greater awareness of God’s love day by day.
Amen |
