God’s Love is forever - 23 November 2009

I have recently been involved in a service of quiet and meditation on the theme of God’s Love; and it seemed to me a good theme on which to focus our thoughts this week.

“Shout for joy to the Lord, all the earth. Worship the Lord with gladness; come before him with joyful songs. Know that the Lord is God. It is he who made us, and we are his; we are his people, the sheep of his pasture.

Enter his gates with thanksgiving and his courts with praise; give thanks to him and praise his name. For the Lord is good and his love endures for ever; his faithfulness continues through all generations.”  Psalm 100 [NIV]

This Psalm, like many others, tells of God and his love that endures for ever; it’s one of the Old Testament worship songs! If you have the time why not say the Psalm now; speak it aloud.

God is constant, the one who was, and is, and is to come. God’s love is constant, never changing, ever true. It is something that we can rely on, however we might be feeling, whatever the world might be saying to us; however sad or stressed or unworthy or alone or forgotten we feel that we are, God and his love for us will never falter.

“God is love.” 1 John 4:8. God acts towards us on that basis; always.
