That was the Week…..6 November 2009
This week I have tried to offer food for thought without giving the feeling that “this is how you should think and react”. I have deliberately not quoted passages of Scripture since I’m sure you all could find what you need at least as well as I can. You are all capable of making your own decisions having read each day’s piece.
Personally there are times when I need to go to my Bible and check something out, or remind myself of what is written about a particular thought or problem that occurs.
But I know I don’t read it as often as I should. Perhaps some are like me and feel that we can be bombarded, on occasions, with passages that we then have to decipher and try to relate to the point being made. We are not always good if we feel we are being “preached at” in any way. We are naturally defensive of our position, whatever that is. The temptation is to withdraw into ourselves, which is sad. We need to be more receptive.
However, I hope you will have understood my feeling that whether I was with Him or not, God has always been with me. I didn’t have to ask, I even tried to ignore His promptings, I was not playing ball, leave me out, I don’t want to know! I was always so impatient, hated queuing for any length of time, couldn’t wait for something to happen or for a date to arrive. His patience is unending, He knows the plans he has for each of us and, in hindsight, you have to admit that His timing is spot on.
Recently I had been considering whether I might afford a holiday to the – I’ve been to the west coast previously – or perhaps another visit to , which is a fascinating country. I did think about a visit to Casa Re’om, but felt that was not right for me just now. Then, out of the blue, came the chance to go to . The trip is titled “In the footsteps of Jesus”. No contest. Once again His timing is impeccable and I fly out on the 22nd of this month. I have no idea what to expect as things will be so different from Jesus’ time. I just know I have to go there.
You know God loves us all. Not for what we think we are, but regardless of what He knows we are. Let us not forget to thank Him for all He does for us every day. May we all pray to Him and speak with Him regularly, and may we look for, and listen to, his promptings. For me, better than I do at present.
Remember, remember…wherever you go, whatever you do, God is always with you just waiting to share His love with you.
Bon Voyage!
