Time to Slow Down – 2 October 2009
Fulfilment is not to be found in material possessions or status, or in a busy life.
But seek first the kingdom of God and His righteousness, and all these things shall be added to you. Matthew 6:33 [NKJV]
My final challenge is to start bringing our use of time under control so that it serves Kingdom values rather than those of the world. We will not find the Kingdom of God by being busy. Jesus is not necessarily calling us to be monks, but he does want us to make time to be with him each day; time in which we surrender our agenda and just be. Time spent listening to God is time well spent.
How prepared are you to offer up your diary? Is God asking you to slow down and spend more time listening to Him?
Lord, help me to see my life through your eyes and show me the true value of what I do. I want to grow into a deeper relationship with you and become the person you created me to be, please show me how I can slow down and fall into step with you.
