The God who gives life – 10 July 2009
Today our word comes from Oliveira Mocuna, he is the new base leader at the Jocum (YWAM) base in Beira, where he started work in May this year, after volunteering to take on the leadership role. Before May, he and his new wife Angelique were based at YWAM Lichinga (north of Beira).
Oliveira has chosen a verse from Romans. Oliveira says:
As it is written: "I have made you a father of many nations." He is our father in the sight of God, in whom he believed—the God who gives life to the dead and calls things that are not as though they were. Romans 4: 17 [NIV]
In this verse I learn three important things:-
- God gives us life
- God gives life to the dead
- God calls things that are not as though they were
He gave me life - I can see this every day with his protection. God is full of mercy, that’s why He forgives us our sins, gives life to the dead people, the people who don’t
believe in Him, and by faith nothing is impossible to God.
This happened to me, when I was preparing my Wedding in December 2008, a week before I had nothing - and I started to repeat this last part of the verse, “The God who calls things that are not as though they were.” and God provided. Just 3 days before my Wedding, God He provided and I am married.
If you have a challenge of something and you think this is not possible, I want to remind you that our God is a God of the impossible.
God bless you today,
Oliveira” |
