Yet I will rejoice – 8 July 2009
Alice is the leader of the orphanage at Dondo (a few miles further up the road from Inhamizua), where she is assisted by YWAM staff member Morbinho and 4 other workers.
The Dondo orphanage is adjacent to the YWAM Dondo base but the responsibility for the orphanage was transferred to Pastor Bonga and Casa Reom two years ago. The Dondo building is in a bad state of repair and the main issues apart from the lack of funds for food and clothes are the lack of connection to mains water, the leaking roof which lets in water every time it rains, and the electrics - which need to be replaced. 35 boys and girls live at Dondo and the youngest is only 3 months old (her mother died in childbirth).
Alice says:
“I would like to share two verses from the prophet Habbakuk:
Though the fig tree does not bud and there are no grapes on the vines,
though the olive crop fails and the fields produce no food, though there are no sheep in the pen and no cattle in the stalls, yet I will rejoice in the LORD, I will be joyful in God my Savior. Habbakuk 3: 17-18 [CEV]
This talks about the tree that is growing in the forest. Of course there may be no food, no whatever, but in God a person (like the tree) can live.
The prophet Habbakuk encourages us that even if we have no food, no anything,
at that particular time we can still trust God.
This is the verse I wanted to read - so that all of us, we need to trust God.
Even if I don’t have anything but myself I feel confidence and happy in the Lord.
Thank you,
Alice” |
