Protection – 2 July 2009

We have seen throughout this story how God cared for and protected Naomi and Ruth.  His supreme control over circumstances brings them safety and security.  God guides the minds and activities of people to fulfil his purpose.  He protected them through all of their hardship, and provided for their needs on many levels.

We have also seen how protective Ruth felt of Naomi, and her desire to stay with her and protect her.  And we have seen how Naomi wanted to protect Ruth and see her build a better future for herself.  We saw too how Boaz wanted to protect and provide for Ruth

“Now don’t worry about a thing, my child; I’ll handle all the details, for everyone knows what a wonderful person you are….. Stay here tonight, and if my relative will marry you –fine, but if he will not then I will. “ Ruth 3: 11-13

Each of them wanted to protect and provide for the other, in order to see them happy and fulfilled.  And they wanted to see each other protected from the situations that surrounded them.

No matter how devastating our present situation may be, we can hope in God. His resources and protection are infinite. We must believe that he can work in any person’s life, whether that person is a king or a stranger in a foreign land.

Do you know somebody who is in a difficult time in their life? Based on your understanding of God and the way he uses us to communicate his protection, how can you help this person?
