Deeply moved like Jesus – 25 June 2009
When Mary reached the place where Jesus was and saw him, she fell at his feet and said, "Lord, if you had been here, my brother would not have died."
When Jesus saw her weeping, and the Jews who had come along with her also weeping, he was deeply moved in spirit and troubled. "Where have you laid him?" he asked. "Come and see, Lord," they replied. Jesus wept.
Then the Jews said, "See how he loved him!"
John 11:32-36 [TNIV]
This is a wonderful word and it strongly expresses the deep concern of our Lord, Jesus Christ, upon Lazarus when he died. Jesus heard the story from the boys who went to call him to come to the house of Martha and Mary. He also heard the story when he met first with Martha. But the drama had changed when Jesus met with Mary, surrounded by people who were weeping. The bible said Jesus was touched and he was deeply moved. Now, Jesus was coming close to feel the death of his friend Lazarus.
We need to remember that Jesus was both God and living in flesh. Jesus felt as a human being felt when he lost a loved one. Jesus wept!
Jesus as the Lord God, who was present when the world was made. He wanted to know where they have buried him. The people thought that Jesus wanted to see the tomb where Lazarus was buried.
“Lazarus, come out!” He came out from the grave that the world should see the relationship between Him and God. Lazarus is brought to life!
People in the world sometimes forget the power of our Lord, Jesus Christ. And we even forget our main role as Christians. We need to feel pity with the poor people like the children at Casa Re-om. We can do more to clothe them, to feed and provide education for those who are in need. Many children, women, the old people in the world are suffering in different ways, where as we, as Christians, must consider the ways to comfort them. We must be touched and deeply moved.
