Omnipotent God – 10 June 2009

How limited is your God? Do you believe that God is supremely powerful?  Sometimes it seems that in the struggle of good against evil, the power of good (God) is losing the battle.  There may be some battles lost – but if God is all powerful (and I believe he is), then the winner of the war is already decided.  There is no doubt of the outcome – God has already won – nothing that God created is greater than the Creator.  He is truly omnipotent (“all powerful”).

For since the creation of the world God's invisible qualities—his eternal power and divine nature—have been clearly seen, being understood from what has been made, so that men are without excuse. Romans 1:20 [NIV]

Do you struggle with things that have power over you?  Are you limited by your own strength and feeling like things are getting on top of you?  There is an all-powerful God who is not limited by earthly laws or created beings.

We have a God who:

·    Parted the waters of the Red Sea (Exodus 14)

·    Made a donkey talk (Balaam’s donkey in Numbers 22)

·    Changed the motion of the earth round the sun (Hezekiah’s sign in 2 Kings 20)

·    Walked on water and showed Peter he could do the same (Matthew 14)

·    Changed water into wine (John 2)

·    Raised the dead (Lazarus, Jairus’ daughter, Jesus)

Given the track record above (and many, many more miracles which showed his power) – do you think God has enough power to look after you?
