Transformation - 5 June 2009
“And we, who with unveiled faces all reflect the Lord’s glory, are being transformed into his likeness with ever-increasing glory, which comes from the Lord, who is the Spirit.” 2 Corinthians 3:18
God’s Spirit not only provides power, connection, conviction and guidance but is also at work in us; the Holy Spirit is in the business of transformation. Through the Spirit our hearts, our attitudes, our behaviour is being made more and more Christ-like. We are works in progress; it’s along-term project, the work of a lifetime – our lifetime, only to be completed when we meet Jesus face to face.
Slowly but surely the Spirit does his work, growing in us the attitudes of Christ; seen as the fruit of the Spirit; “love, joy, peace, patience, kindness, goodness, faithfulness, gentleness and self-control.” Galatians 5:22-23
Since his ascension Jesus has not been seen as a man in our world; he is only now visible to the world through us, his followers. The more that we display the attitude of Christ in what we say and what we do, in how much we show love (without strings) to others, then the more that Christ is visible to the world; food for thought for all of us.
Today, take time to reflect on the transformation that God has already worked in you, and thank him for it; then reflect on which of those Spiritual fruits that you can make the effort to do better with.
Lord, please continue your work of transformation in each of us, so that more and more we can reflect your glory.
Amen |
