What if what we claim to know is not true? – 12 May 2009
A pacifist at heart and an inventor by nature, Swedish chemist Alfred Nobel invented dynamite. However, the invention that he thought would end all wars was seen by many others as an extremely deadly product. In 1888, when Alfred's brother Ludvig died, a newspaper mistakenly ran an obituary for Alfred which called him the "merchant of death." Not wanting to go down in history with such a horrible epitaph, Nobel created a will that established the now famous Nobel Prizes.
Many people are shocked to know that Alfred Nobel was not always associated with PEACE. However his image changed when he took one decision.
It’s never too late to make your decision to change and receive Christ as your Lord and Saviour. Just like many did not know about Alfred Nobel’s background until today, there are many people who do not know that God exists and that if we have ever lied, or have had wrong motives about anything or coveted anything that belongs to someone, to mention just a few, we have sinned against God and stand to be judged.
I also saw all the dead people standing in front of that throne. Every one of them was there, no matter who they had once been. Several books were opened, and then the book of life was opened. The dead were judged by what those books said they had done. Revelation 20:12 [CEV]
Similarly, many do not know that however good we think we are, good deeds are not enough. No. But accepting Jesus as our Lord and Saviour and repenting from our sins is the only way to heaven. Being a perfect man, who did not commit any sin, and through His sacrificial death, Jesus paid for our sins so that God’s wrath will not be upon us when we die and meet face-to-face with the One who made us.
When I found out that Jesus and the Kingdom of God is all people need in life, it was and still feels like I have found a diamond mine. You can still become a man or woman of God to be used for his glory. Or if you have slipped backwards, Jesus wants to restore you. 2 Timothy 2 verses 19 – 22 say it all:
Nevertheless, God's solid foundation stands firm, sealed with this inscription: "The Lord knows those who are his," and, "Everyone who confesses the name of the Lord must turn away from wickedness." In a large house there are articles not only of gold and silver, but also of wood and clay; some are for noble purposes and some for ignoble. If a man cleanses himself from the latter, he will be an instrument for noble purposes, made holy, useful to the Master and prepared to do any good work. Flee the evil desires of youth, and pursue righteousness, faith, love and peace, along with those who call on the Lord out of a pure heart [NIV]
Remember, lack of knowledge about something e.g. the law of gravity does not mean it does not exist and if somebody falls from the roof because they didn’t know gravity exists, people can only sympathise but that will restore life back. It is wise to seek the truth before its too late.
