God’s will for you – 11 May 2009
When the storms of life arise and we have suffered trials and temptations, we sometimes come to the point of not believing the word of God. As I write this devotional, I had almost come to the point of questioning the word of God – why is it taking too long? why has the Lord not honoured his word? why does the word seem to have lost it’s power and integrity? why…..?
But the grace of God brought the following revelation to my attention. It is the devil and his same old tricks, started in the Garden of Eden that causes us to question God:
“And he [Satan] said to the woman, Can it really be that God has said, You shall not eat from every tree of the garden?” Genesis 3:1 [The Amplified Bible] - my underlining
The devil knows that if only he can get us to question the validity of what God said then he has won. Today if you hear the following or similar questions regarding what you have been believing, know that it is the devil. Resist him and he will flee:
Can it really be that God has said... He was wounded for our transgressions, He was bruised for our guilt and iniquities; the chastisement [needful to obtain] peace and well-being for us was upon Him, and with the stripes [that wounded] Him we are healed and made whole? Isaiah 53:5 [The Amplified Bible]
Can it really be that God has said… Honor the LORD with your wealth, with the firstfruits of all your crops; then your barns will be filled to overflowing, and your vats will brim over with new wine. Proverbs 3:9-10 [The Amplified Bible]
Can it really be that God has said... "Ask and it will be given to you; seek and you will find; knock and the door will be opened to you. For everyone who asks receives; he who seeks finds; and to him who knocks, the door will be opened. Luke 11:10 [NIV]
If in the Garden of Eden, Eve had only answered “YES THAT’S WHAT GOD SAID AND NOW, GET BEHIND ME SATAN”, the world would be a different place today.
So, do not be deceived, believe and always repeat what God says whenever asked to confirm something you may be seeing but God did not say, and you will receive your miracle. It’s not easy but that’s the only sure way. That’s why the bible uses words like – if you do not give up; persevere; labour in order to enter God’s rest; keep on praying or do not doubt, etc.
The bible and all the promises in it is God’s will for you to live under the canopy of His blessings! |
