Uplifting Worship to God
We are all made to worship – that is the longing inside each one of us. That longing leads some of us to sing or to dance; to wonder or to devotion.
Of course our whole life as a Christian is an act of worship – the way we serve others; the work we do; how we live our lives – these are all expressions of worship, and vital ones too. Though that time when we gather before God in praise and reflection on him as revealed in the scriptures, is a sublime and vital part of our relationship with him.
John spells out that the two must go together – personal expressions of devotion to God and practical demonstrations of that love.
“If anyone says, "I love God," yet hates his brother, he is a liar. For anyone who does not love his brother, whom he has seen, cannot love God, whom he has not seen. And he has given us this command: Whoever loves God must also love his brother.” 1 John 4:20,21 [NIV]
