Does it Show? - 5 March 2009
When Moses came down from Mount Sinai with the two tablets of the Testimony in his hands, he was not aware that his face was radiant because he had spoken with the Lord. Exodus 34:29
When Moses came down from the mountain it was obvious to others that he looked different; having been speaking to and listening to God; and he continued to have a radiant face each time he conversed with God;
“But whenever he entered the Lord’s presence to speak with him, he removed the veil until he came out. And when he came out and told the Israelites what he had been commanded, they saw that his face was radiant.” Exodus 34:34
The Israelites could see that Moses had been in conversation with God, had been in his company, because it showed. When we have been in conversation with God, hearing what he has to say to us, it should show. I don’t think that we would necessarily look more radiant to others, (no need to rush off and look in a mirror), but it should show in how we act and behave.
Spending time in the company of God should make a difference to us which will be reflected in our thought and actions, and the love that we show. The more that we connect with God, and listen to him, the more we will be changed and the more it will show, and the more our lives will point to Jesus.
Today, take time to prayerfully reflect on how you show love to others; on how knowing and being know by God shows. Does anything need to change?
Lord, as we strive to follow you help us show the love that you have shown to us to others, more and more.
