Needless Negativity – 13 February 2009
I just finished reading the book “Yes Man” by Danny Wallace (it’s quite different from the film in case you have seen it). What I find interesting is the fact that our negativity means we miss out on a lot of exciting opportunities. For sure, some of the people asking for our time are merely using this as an excuse to sell us something. Sometimes, however, we say no to things which would really be good for us – the company of friends, playing with our children, spending leisure time with our workmates….
We live in a world where negativity hampers our progress. Think about the results of this negativity:
· It frustrates opportunity
· It steals happiness
· It promotes failure
· It destroys hope
You can display positivity without becoming a doormat. Today, say “Yes” to the opportunities that enrich your life and those of others around you. Say “No” to selfish pursuits and spend time in the service of others. At the end of the day, I feel sure you will be happier and more fulfilled.
Have you heard the quotation “the only thing necessary for the triumph of evil is for good men to do nothing”? Why not try positive activity today, instead of negative inactivity?
Lord, help us to remain positive as a result of the hope we have in You. In Jesus name, Amen. |
