Why a wise God would give us a bible - 29 January 2009

It appears that the life we live is based on things we have made and man's knowledge. Man has invented computers and manufactured many other things that help us in our day-to-day life.  There are aeroplanes, high speed trains, rockets that go to the moon and more inventions on the drawing board.  Many are beyond our scope of understanding.

From all this, man led by science seems to have it all, but this is not true.  What's most interesting is the fact that the majority of these "complex" gadgets, tools and equipment always come with a user's manual.

Now, before I became a believer myself I thought God was a God of rules meant to deny us our freedom. He was no where near the wise and loving God that I now know.

I think we all agree that science and all its principles is systematic, methodical and logical. So if there were a God, and with all due respect to clever scientists, would it not make sense that he write a manual to explain how Creation was designed to work?  Would he not write a book on how he created the complex universe including the earth and the human body? Would God in all his wisdom expect us human beings to figure out life on earth for ourselves without a "manual"?  Believe it or not all things have been systematically, methodically and logically designed and there is Manual that explains how they were made and function.

For lack of space I will focus on man himself and what God says about him.

Then God said, "Let us make man in our image, in our likeness, and let them rule over the fish of the sea and the birds of the air, over the livestock, over all the earth, and over all the creatures that move along the ground."   So God created man in his own image, in the image of God he created him; male and female he created them. Genesis 1: 26 – 27[NIV]

In other words man was created by God and by speaking – read the whole chapter!

And with respect to the Bible – (His Manual) or His Word…..

"Take to heart all the words I have solemnly declared to you this day.. They are not just idle words for you—they are your life. By them you will live long…. Deuteronomy 32: 46 – 47.

The secret things belong to the LORD our God, but the things revealed belong to us and to our children forever,…… Deuteronomy 29: 29

The fear of the LORD is the beginning of wisdom; all who follow his precepts have good understanding. Psalm 111: 10

And to sum it all about God, (who He Is and what He has done) Jesus the Son of God said: "I praise you, Father, Lord of heaven and earth, because you have hidden these things from the wise and learned, and revealed them to little children. Yes, Father, for this was your good pleasure". Luke 10: 21 [NIV]

It is my belief that by revelation through observation of God's creation – for example the bird, man has aspired and later own learnt "how to fly".  In other words all wisdom and knowledge come from Him.  So if you have any questions about life, why not read the bible today?
