Tradition or arrogance, is that the question? – 5 December 2008
As yesterday I am going to briefly talk about Anglicanism. The Anglican Church holds a 4 statement tradition. Scripture, Reason, Tradition and Experience (experience is a recent addition).
Lots of people say that it should only be scripture, but I think reason is very important. I read a quote recently that said, “Without tradition you’ll think you’re wiser than your forefathers.” That is so true; it has been too long that people think they can know it all themselves. There have been intellectually brilliant Christians over the millennia since Jesus walked the earth, and we should look at what they say, what they thought of the Bible and how they ‘did’ Christianity.
Don’t be proud, see what our forefathers have done and learn from it.
