The calling is greater – 3 December 2008

Sometimes God calls us to do things that we find hard.  Things that scare us.  I hope you do them anyway, but I found freedom a few weeks ago in being called to do these ‘big’ things.

Recently I felt lead to stand to be on the Students Union Council.  I had been on before, but this time it involved more competition and I was left nervous and wondering if I was able to stand, and I was worried I might fail which would make me feel rubbish.

I could see a benefit on every side for going for this, even if I failed God would have taught me a lesson.  When God asks you to do something it is because he wants you to do it.  He has called you to do it.

It is for you to do, and if it is more than you think you can do, rejoice.  God is of course going to be with you, and he wants you to be more than you are, he has a bigger plan for you.

I was playing my guitar through the election time and I think God inspired me to sing this.  Use it as a prayer that sums up what I have said today.

 “Lord I want to thank you for calling me to be something greater than I can be.”
