Psalm 104 - 31 October 2008
Praise the Lord, O my Soul.
O Lord my God, you are very great; you are clothed with splendour and majesty.
He wraps Himself in light as with a garment; he stretches out the heavens like a tent…..’ Psalm 104:1-2 [NIV]
This week I have wanted us to think about how God is with us at every moment, that our prayer is not reserved for Sundays but is a daily conversation about how we feel, our needs, that all our thoughts need to be offered to God and our daily situations too.
We thought about the command to love God and our neighbour and think seriously about the challenge of that command and the difference it should make in our lives.
To ask God for His peace and for us to pass that peace onto those we meet each day. How does being in the peace of God influence our everyday encounters?
To wonder with God in His creation, again as we go about our daily lives taking time to look at the wonder of Gods work all around us.
Today I would like us to take time to read psalm 104. A glorious psalm of the majesty and splendour of the works of God in his creation. It speaks that God alone determines the functions of all things created, His dominion also includes the sea and all that is in it and even the mysteries of life and death are in his hands. The psalm ends;
‘I will sing to the Lord all my life. I will sing praise to my God as long as I live. May my meditation be pleasing to him, as I rejoice in the Lord…….’
Praise the Lord, o my soul
Praise the Lord.
