You’ll never walk alone - 10 Sept 2008

Today I want to tell you about a journey I have recently been on, and am still taking.

I hope we can learn together as we walk side by side.

One issue I struggle with is that of loneliness. “But what about yesterday?”, I hear you say, “what about the Footprints? “ My journey today will take us further along that beach.

Over the last year I have felt increasing alone, and at times when I have really needed a companion it has often felt as though nobody is there for me. Several of my closest friendships have been attacked and I have felt forgotten and neglected. I know this is not the truth, and if I had asked for help or companionship there would have been people there for me, but the lies about nobody caring have often taken over.

Early in the summer I went to a Ladies day, which was an extremely hard journey for me to set out on, especially as I was well and truly stuck in a deep dark wood at that point. However, I did go along, and surrounded by so many sisters I eventually allowed myself to hear what God had been shouting to me.

“I will never leave you, nor forsake you” Hebrews 13:5-6

God was, and is, always beside me. Even though it seemed that friends had forgotten me, or were not noticing how alone I was, God had NEVER left me. He was beside me the whole time. He whispered it in my ear, and then shouted it out loud.

“I have not forgotten about you, ever. I have always been right here beside you. I will never forget about you, never leave you alone, always see and feel how you are feeling, and always be beside you.“ He is the ultimate friend. WOW! HE will never forget about me.

I am learning to stand up against the attacks and lies, and hope that slowly friendships will be restored, and new friendships will be built. However, for now I have my best friend with me, and I know I will not walk alone. We’ll carry on making those Footprints in the Sand together.

In case you missed it yesterday, or want to hear it again – check out this song by Leona Lewis.

I have just read an amazing story about a journey with God which I meant to recommend in this weeks devotionals but forgot to include. It's called "The Shack" by William P. Young. It really helped me to reflect on Gods feelings for me, how He is always there with me, and how everything that happens be that good or bad does have a purpose. I won't give away the plot, but it is gripping from start to finish. I couldn't put it down! if you'd like to read it let me know and I'll add you to the list!

i have felt very touched by your honesty i myself felt very lonly living in Weedon and taking this next step to live in Spain was also another big challenge but it has been great and also knowing that God is there in every thing we attempt to do we must never forget that it is so easy to think we are doing it thanks Corrine .
