Satan has promises for better life too! - 14th May 2008
"Do not listen to Hezekiah. This is what the king of Assyria says: Make peace with me and come out to me. Then every one of you will eat from his own vine and fig tree and drink water from his own cistern, until I come and take you to a land like your own—a land of grain and new wine, a land of bread and vineyards. "Do not let Hezekiah mislead you when he says, 'The LORD will deliver us.' Has the god of any nation ever delivered his land from the hand of the king of Assyria? Where are the gods of Hamath and Arpad? Where are the gods of Sepharvaim? Have they rescued Samaria from my hand? Who of all the gods of these countries has been able to save his land from me? How then can the LORD deliver Jerusalem from my hand?" But the people remained silent and said nothing in reply, because the king had commanded, "Do not answer him." Then Eliakim son of Hilkiah the palace administrator, Shebna the secretary, and Joah son of Asaph the recorder went to Hezekiah, with their clothes torn, and told him what the field commander had said Isaiah 36 :16-22 [NIV] Lessons: · To counter God’s promises Satan has his own promises. He tried to pull the same old trick on Jesus when he took him to a very high mountain and showed him all the kingdoms of the world and their splendour. "All this I will give you," he said, "if you will bow down and worship me." Matthew 4 vs 8 – 9 [NIV] · When we compromise we make peace with Satan. Has it ever occurred to you that when you are at the peak of believing God for your miracle, the battles and opposition you face is often intense? · He attacks the word of God that you are standing on. The last 2 verses give us some advice: · Do not waste your time arguing with the devil. Don’t enter into conversation with him. If we do, we know what happened to Eve in the garden of Eden · Talk to your Father in Heaven through prayer and fasting |
